ORCIVUS Sweden
ORCIVUS was officially founded in January 2006 by Perditor. Mortifer was asked to join the constellation a month or so after. By this time the band went under the name HAEMOPHILIA; a demo was recorded. This demo caught the attention of Next Horizon Records, and an alliance was formed. Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end.

Svartidauði, the Icelandic legends, to me are one of the entire black metal scene's very pillars and ambassador of a chaotic, swirling and utterly intimidating style. Flesh Cathedral is a triumphant release, even more so considering it's their debut full-length. I even prefer it to Revelations of the Red Sword, which I heard first. These four tracks full of abrasive, highly recognisable vocals and nightmarish guitar riffs are uncomfortable and yet as spellbinding as aurora borealis. Magnificent.
